Kiko Milano expands into Uruguay for €8.55M

Kiko Milano Bets Big on Uruguay with €8.55 Million Expansion

The Italian cosmetics giant Kiko Milano is marking a significant leap into the heart of South America, committing a substantial investment to establish a major presence in Uruguay. This ambitious move is not just about opening a new shop; it represents a strategic push to solidify its footprint and use Uruguay as a springboard for wider regional growth across the continent.

To achieve this, Kiko Milano is dedicating €8.55 million over the next five years to build a robust retail network. The goal is to establish eight stores, initiating a carefully planned expansion that promises to unlock further opportunities in the region.

This exciting venture is being realized through a strategic partnership with Grupo Antelo. The initial steps are set to begin in Montevideo, with the first Kiko Milano store slated to open in late October. The expansion plan is phased: the brand will launch its presence with four stores and an integrated e-commerce platform during its first year, with the remaining expansion following over the subsequent years.

Leading this crucial expansion is Sofía Torrendell, who brings extensive experience to the role as the General Manager of Kiko Milano Uruguay. Torrendell joins the team after an impressive 17-year tenure at L’Oréal, bringing a wealth of expertise that will guide the brand’s growth in the market.

Beyond the retail footprint, this investment is poised to create meaningful employment opportunities, with the expansion expected to generate 100 new jobs in the Uruguayan market.

For Kiko Milano, this move further strengthens its position within Latin America, an area that already boasts a vast network of more than 1,300 stores spanning 72 countries. Success in Uruguay is seen as a key indicator that could pave the way for future growth into neighboring markets, potentially including Argentina.

The commitment highlights Kiko Milano’s unwavering international growth strategy. By successfully navigating the Uruguayan market, the brand is setting the stage for an even more dynamic and widespread presence across South America.
