Macy’s Unveils Creative Vision with New Executive Leadership

As Macy’s embarks on its Bold New Chapter strategy, the department store has announced a significant leadership appointment designed to redefine its brand expression. Effective August 31, 2026, the company has welcomed Maya Dukes as Senior Vice President, Executive Creative Director.

Dukes steps into this pivotal role with a mandate to oversee the entire creative strategy and brand expression across all customer touchpoints. Her mission is to work closely with the marketing, merchandising, and digital teams to not just strengthen, but completely reimagine the Macy’s nameplate, ensuring the brand resonates powerfully with its audience.

This appointment brings an exceptional depth of experience to the transformation programme. Dukes brings more than two decades of brand and creative leadership expertise to the table, providing the necessary insight to navigate the complexities of modern retail.

Her tenure at Macy’s is a welcome return, as she was previously a part of the retailer’s fabric from 2001 to 2007. Prior to this, Dukes built a distinguished career in major consumer businesses, including leadership roles at Comcast NBCUniversal, The Home Depot, and Delta Air Lines, where she served as Managing Director, Global Brand, Creative and Agency Operations.

This unique blend of experience—spanning airline branding, media empires, and retail operations—positions her perfectly to modernize Macy’s creative operations. The goal is clear: to enhance customer engagement, sharpen brand positioning, and ensure that Macy’s creative output reflects a dynamic, forward-thinking retail experience.

With Dukes guiding the creative direction, Macy’s is poised to execute a vision that is both deeply rooted in its heritage and vibrantly focused on the future of retail.
