L’Oréal expands MENA manufacturing capacity EGP 240M

L’Oréal is significantly boosting its footprint in the Middle East and North Africa, committing EGP 240 million, or approximately €4 million, to expand its manufacturing operations in Egypt. This strategic investment aims to solidify the country’s role as the group’s central hub for manufacturing and exporting high-demand beauty products across the region.

At the heart of this expansion is the 10th of Ramadan City plant, which stands as L’Oréal’s sole manufacturing facility within the MENA region. This facility is responsible for producing a diverse range of hair care, skincare, and hair color products, servicing the extensive and growing demand for cosmetic goods throughout North Africa and the Middle East.

The expansion is designed not just to increase output but to amplify operational efficiency, ensuring the plant can meet surging domestic demand while simultaneously strengthening its capacity for international exports into existing and new regional markets. This move underscores L’Oréal’s commitment to localization within the region.

Looking back, the facility has already demonstrated impressive capacity. Over the last five years, the plant has successfully manufactured 442 million units. A significant portion of this output has been channeled toward global markets, with 85 percent of production exported to 20 different countries across the MENA area, showcasing Egypt’s powerful position in the global supply chain.

Beyond production volume, the operation is pioneering sustainable practices. Since January 2025, the facility has operated on 100 percent renewable energy and utilizes recycled or reused water for all industrial processes. This commitment positions the plant as a leader in environmentally conscious manufacturing within the industry.

This major investment serves a crucial purpose: expanding L’Oréal’s regional supply and manufacturing infrastructure. By leveraging this strategic MENA production base, the company is significantly enhancing its ability to serve multiple markets from Egypt, fostering greater local production, and driving regional economic growth.
