Bluemercury appoints new Head of Merchandising
A New Era of Luxury Merchandising at Bluemercury
The luxury beauty retail landscape is buzzing with a significant appointment, as Bluemercury, the high-end beauty retailer owned by Macy’s, has bolstered its leadership with the addition of Stacie Borteck Dattner. Dattner has been named Vice President and General Merchandise Manager, Merchandising, a role poised to redefine how the retailer curates its offerings and connects with the modern luxury consumer.
In this pivotal role, Dattner will steer Bluemercury’s entire merchandising strategy, overseeing proprietary brands, vendor marketing, and the overall product assortment. Reporting directly to CEO Alexandre Choueiri, her mandate is clear: to enhance the customer experience by strengthening relationships with established and emerging beauty brands, and expanding opportunities for product discovery across both physical stores and digital channels.
Dattner brings a wealth of experience from the world of luxury retail. Prior to joining Bluemercury, she spent nearly two decades at Bloomingdale’s, including seven years leading the beauty and fragrance division. Her background is steeped in the mechanics of luxury retail, having previously served as Senior Principal in Strategic Capital Planning and Brand Integration, where she managed critical projects involving store development, capital strategy, and high-profile luxury brand partnerships.
This deep history in brand integration and strategic planning provides a unique foundation for Dattner’s new focus. At Bluemercury, she will leverage her expertise to develop a differentiated merchandising approach. The goal is to move beyond simple sales and create an immersive environment where consumers can truly discover and connect with the world’s most coveted beauty products.
The move underscores Bluemercury’s commitment to a forward-thinking retail strategy. By concentrating on differentiated merchandising, fostering exciting partnerships with emerging brands, developing proprietary products, and prioritizing omnichannel retail development, the company aims to solidify its position as a leader in the US luxury beauty market.
