Nykaa boosts stake in Earth Rhythm
The beauty landscape in India is undergoing a fascinating evolution, driven not just by retail trends but by strategic investment and ownership. At the heart of this shift is the ambition of digital-first ventures, and a significant move has recently been made by the parent company of Nykaa to solidify its foothold in this burgeoning sector.
FSN E-Commerce Ventures, the umbrella entity for Nykaa, has recently stepped up its commitment to the beauty market by increasing its stake in the personal care brand Earth Rhythm by approximately 25 percent. This strategic investment underscores a clear commitment to nurturing a diverse portfolio of brands that align with the digital-first consumer experience.
This isn’t a new relationship; Nykaa first entered Earth Rhythm in April 2022, securing an initial 18.51 percent stake for Rs 41.65 crore before eventually taking majority ownership of the business. Now, the increased investment reflects a deepened trust and belief in Earth Rhythm’s potential to grow alongside Nykaa’s expansive vision.
Earth Rhythm, established in 2015, has successfully positioned itself as a comprehensive digital beauty and personal care brand, offering a wide spectrum of products ranging from skincare and hair care to make-up. This range perfectly positions the company to tap into the sophisticated demands of the modern Indian consumer.
The decision to increase the stake is part of a broader strategy. It reinforces Nykaa’s overarching goal: to build a robust ecosystem that encompasses both its core retail platform and a growing portfolio of owned and invested beauty brands. By leveraging acquisitions and strategic stakes, the aim is to capture greater value from India’s rapidly expanding beauty and personal care market.
This focus on vertical integration allows the group to manage the entire consumer journey—from discovery on digital platforms to purchase and loyalty—ensuring that the value generated by these brands is maximized. It is a move that positions the group not just as a retailer, but as a key architect in shaping the future of the Indian beauty industry.
