Lucia Pieroni joins Chanel as Creative Makeup Director

Chanel is sharpening its creative edge, recently appointing veteran make-up artist Lucia Pieroni as the Creative Makeup Director for its global colour cosmetics business. This move is a strategic signal, reinforcing the house’s commitment to building a more distinctive and potent creative identity within its expansive beauty portfolio.

Pieroni’s new role places her at the forefront of defining the visual language of Chanel’s makeup line. She will lead make-up artistry for the house’s fashion shows and oversee the overall creative direction for the cosmetics line, collaborating closely with the Makeup Creation Studio and reporting directly to Simona Cattaneo, President of Fragrance and Beauty.

Her pedigree is undeniable. Pieroni brings a wealth of experience, having collaborated with Chanel Creative Director Matthieu Blazy since his runway debut in 2025. Before joining Chanel, she spent more than a decade leading creative direction for Shiseido’s Clé de Peau Beauté, where she was instrumental in developing their luxurious colour cosmetics portfolio.

This leadership is part of a broader vision for innovation. The appointment signals a renewed focus on nurturing a creative vision that is both deeply rooted in the house’s heritage and forward-looking. It positions the makeup business not just as an extension of the wider luxury brand, but as an accessible and defining entry point into the broader luxury sphere.

This strategic shift follows Chanel’s previous structure, which utilized the Comètes Collective model, bringing together three talented make-up artists to share creative responsibilities. The appointment of Pieroni represents a concentrated focus, aiming to consolidate and amplify the creative direction under a single, visionary leader.
