Essity acquires Kenvue’s Brazil feminine care business for $284M
A major shift is underway in the Brazilian hygiene market as Essity has made a significant move to bolster its position in a core health category. The company has agreed to acquire Kenvue’s feminine care business in Brazil for US$284 million, signaling a strategic push to consolidate its leadership in one of its most vital segments.
This acquisition is more than just a financial transaction; it is a strategic play aimed at strengthening Essity’s footprint within Brazil’s rapidly evolving feminine care landscape. The deal brings a comprehensive portfolio of assets, including three established feminine care brands covering sanitary pads, liners, and tampons, along with essential manufacturing equipment located in Brazil.
The acquired business has demonstrated solid financial performance. Over the twelve months leading up to June 30, 2026, the operation generated approximately BRL800 million (equivalent to US$156 million) in net sales. Essity has characterized this operation as profitable, underscoring the existing market viability of the acquired operations.
This move perfectly aligns with Essity’s broader corporate strategy. By concentrating investment in its most value-creating categories, the company is positioning itself to exert greater influence in the Brazilian market. This acquisition complements Essity’s existing strength in the country’s incontinence segment, creating a more holistic and robust health portfolio.
The successful integration of these assets is set to enhance Essity’s market authority, giving it an even stronger footing in the feminine care space. While the transaction is currently awaiting regulatory approval and final completion of the broader Kimberly-Clark-Kenvue agreement, the anticipated closing is slated for the second quarter of 2027.
